Bray Wyatt: WWE champion dies at 36

The WWE Hall of Famer Terry Funk passed away a few days ago, and the wrestling world has now lost another legend. On August 24, 36-year-old Windham Rotunda, better known by his ring name Bray Wyatt, passed dead. Triple H, a 14-time world champion and chief content officer, broke the news of his passing. As reported by wrestling reporter Sean Ross Sapp on X, Wyatt passed away from a heart attack.

Just received a call from WWE Hall of Famer Mike Rotunda who informed us of the tragic news that our WWE family member for life Windham Rotunda -- also known as Bray Wyatt - unexpectedly passed away earlier today," Levesque wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter). "Our thoughts are with his family, and we ask that everyone respect their right to privacy at this time."

Mick Foley, a WE commentator, continued, "I thought so highly of Bray Wyatt." He was a real visionary and one of wrestling's most alluring figures ever.

Wyatt came from a wrestling family that included his father Mike Rotunda, his grandpa Blackjack Mulligan, and his younger brother Bo Dallas.

Due to his persona as a tax collector from Washington, DC who hassled wrestlers and fans as "tax cheats," Rotunda was a legendary wrestler in his own right.

Wyatt was a state wrestling champion in high school and received a football scholarship to Troy University. He was born on May 23, 1987, in Brooksville, Florida.

He did, however, leave his course before finishing to pursue a career as a professional wrestler, making his debut in 2009
